The painters trapped us
Away from food and supplies
Dinner out again?

The meet and greet ride
Filled with twists, climbs, and drops but
Some kindle next steps

Blocks away from home
When the sky stopped its trickle
And burst wide open

He devoured the fruit
Upon his first birthday cake
And passed up the rest

The house cats feared it
Crouched down in their hunting pose
They eyed the new floor

I feared perfume sticks
Were my best bet for dinner
But patience prevailed

His backpack destroyed
Then rattles off requirements
And sounds just like me

The aisles of pens
Paper, markers, post it notes
Jealous of my kids
