With piles of neglected tasks
Today it felt space

New states, junk food, time
Road trip hours on our radar
We mused while shopping

Holiday Mondays
Sends waves through the other days
We swim to the end

We find each other
Like magnets, people appear
Their words become keys

For a brief moment
Spontaneity returned
Then cleared more free time

Today was quite flat
A return to work and then
Chicken for dinner

The 4th is amiss
U.S. rights and lives taken
Democracy dims

A surprise visit
Infuses vivid chatter
Into slow free days

Extra bonus days
Of our elusive free time
Makes me want much more
