Eve of his eighteenth
We panic shop at the mall
He’s out with his friends

An obstacle course
Masked as a normal workday
On boundless repeat

Back to happy hour
Out and about with blah drinks
But friendly banter

Leftover candy
A maestro perpetrator
I’m an easy mark
